PARTNER PROFILE: ROB KUYEK, B.A., LL.B
Oct 24 2016Rob has always known that he wanted to be a lawyer. Well, at least since he was in the tenth grade. The idea of being his own employer was an attractive aspect of the job. Now, with 30 years in the profession he enjoys meeting and working with people on a daily basis and the challenging work he gets to do. However, Rob’s favourite part of the job is the client interaction.
Rob completed his undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University and received his law degree from the University of Windsor in 1986. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988 and the British Columbia Bar in 1992 when he joined RDM Lawyers. His areas of practice include business law and commercial lending. He chose these areas because he preferred to be a solicitor (business/real estate lawyer) rather than a barrister (court lawyer).
Rob enjoys working at RDM because of the staff and culture. “We have an excellent staff and attract good quality work to keep us all challenged. While we expect everyone to work hard we also want them to have a life outside of the office.”
Rob lives in Abbotsford with his wife Martha and their 3 children. He is a past president of the Abbotsford Sumas Rotary Club, a past director of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Abbotsford Executive Association. Outside of the office and his community involvement, Rob enjoys fishing as often as he can, skiing and playing the drums.
