PARTNER PROFILE: KAREN MCNEILLY
Apr 18 2016
Karen McNeilly joined RDM Lawyers LLP in 2009 and is a partner in the firm, focusing specifically on family law. She had wanted to be a lawyer since childhood and fulfilled her dream after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the Western University in Bellingham and then graduating from University of British Columbia Law School in 1994.
We sat down with Karen to find out more about her journey to becoming a lawyer.
Karen did not intend on focusing her career on family law while attending university. The law firm in which she articled did a lot of family law, and she enjoyed the work she was immersed in. After articling with the small firm in North Delta, in 1997 she was called to the British Columbia bar and has continued practising primarily family law ever since.
“I like being able to help people through difficult times in their lives.Every day is different and everyone’s situation is different,I like the challenges that brings.”
If Karen had not chosen to be a lawyer she would have chosen a career as an archaeologist.
Karen’s favourite part about RDM is the team environment and emphasis on quality work. “Each person, whether lawyer, assistant, or other employee is encouraged and expected to do their best, with the backing of the entire firm as the team.”
