PARTNER PROFILE: DOUG LESTER
Jan 25 2016
Doug Lester has been a lawyer at RDM Lawyers since graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1985 and being called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1986. He then became partner in 1992. He practices civil litigation in the areas of personal injury law, labor and employment, human rights, insurance law and commercial litigation.
To get to know our lawyers on a more personal level we sat down with Doug to learn a bit about why he chose to become a lawyer and what he likes most about it.
Doug became a lawyer because it’s in the family. His father was a lawyer and so Doug grew up with law being a popular topic discussed around the dinner table, and was drawn to what his father accomplished in his career.
The choice of which area of specialization came easy to Doug, as personal injury law was an area where there was an opportunity to build a practice and a good reputation, and the rest is history. What keeps Doug coming back to the office every day is the satisfying feeling of solving people’s problems. He likes to ensure people are being adequately represented before the courts and are well treated when it comes to final resolution, whether through settlements or through a trial.
When asked what career path he would have gone into if he didn’t go into law, the answer is simple: broadcasting.
Stay tuned for more partner profiles as they become available to learn more about our team at RDM Lawyers.
